Some distribution channels charge a sales commission which is paid by you. This is the distribution channel’s fee for bringing the customer to book through their website and/or for listing your business on their website.

The commission is calculated based on the total price paid by the consumer.  Some channels, such as TripAdvisor, charge a fixed listing fee, advertising fee, cost per click and have 0% commission.

Is Facebook a Distribution channel for TXA bookings? 2018-01-24T07:16:46+00:00

Yes, you can embed your Rezobx booking page into your Facebook or other social media page. Contact our Customer Service and they will explain how to do to this.

I get most of my online bookings through Wotif/Expedia/Booking.com/Agoda. Are they distributors on your system? 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

Yes. These are Online Travel Agents (OTAs) available for you to connect with via TXA. These distributors typically process payment and manage the customer on their own website.

TXA automatically delivers your rates and availability to OTAs and synchronises OTA bookings back into your booking system.

A distribution channel is a website that sells tourism products, like your State tourism website, your local visitor centre, your own website, or Expedia, TripAdvisor, Total Travel, About Australia, etc.

What are allotments or allocations? 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

Allotments are the rooms you have allocated to distribution channels, e.g; a 10 room motel. You distribute 3 to one distributor, 5 to another and 2 to book yourself. With Rezobx you can put 10 rooms on each distribution channel of your choice.

When someone books a room, it is automatically synchronised and updated in your reservation system.

What happens if something goes wrong when I am downloading and manually processing credit cards through my EFTPOS? 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

In most cases the responsibility rests with you, the merchant. This is not a legal opinion and for each business’ sake they should make sure they are clear on this.

If a customer pays for a room online and their card number is stolen and used to make purchases by someone else, the following could happen;

The customer should contact their bank to notify them that they didn’t make the purchases.

  1. The bank will ask the customer for a statutory declaration confirming they didn’t use the credit card for the illegal purchases.
  2. The bank will then find out where the fraud occurred. In most cases they then pursue the merchant (you) first. It’s the operator’s responsibility to prove that they handled the card-transaction properly and that they weren’t responsible for the theft of the card.
  3. If an operator can’t prove that they used proper precautions then they face legal action for recovery of the total fraudulent purchases from the bank.

When operators decide to accept credit cards online they must ensure their online payments are secure. If operators are using insecure methods, banks can take away their facility to process any credit cards, offline and online.

Can I use my Online Payment Facility for offline/onsite bookings also? 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

Your Online Payment Facility is used only for online transactions. Processing offline payments is important and EFTPOS machines can be expensive, so we have developed a better way to do this called VPOS (or Virtual POS).

Online Payment Facilities have a merchant transaction fee set by each bank. Credit card transaction fees apply if you accept payment by card using EFTPOS or an Online Payment Facility. Online Payment Facilities are typically less expensive than EFTPOS because there is no need to rent a terminal.

The Online Payment Facility simply enables money from your customers booking to be deposited safely and securely, directly into your bank account, which means you receive payment quicker. It also gives you more control as you are not waiting for third parties to transfer the money to you.

With Rezobx’s payment system, customers’ card details are processed instantly through our secure payment gateway, which is the most secure way to process booking payments.  Customer’s card details are not captured, stored or passed on.

An Online Payment Facility is the only way you can securely process online payments through your website or distributors who use the direct to supplier payment model (where you transact the booking funds with the customer).

I already have an EFTPOS terminal, why do I need an Online Payment Facility? 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

An Online Payment Facility is not the same as your EFTPOS Merchant Facility, as it specifically manages secure online transactions. EFTPOS is for offline transactions, in which the customer is physically present and the card is sighted by the merchant.

What types of payments are secure and what types are insecure? Why does it matter? 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

In travel, many online booking systems and channel managers use one of the following payment methods:

  • An email form in which the buyer sends their credit card details via email or via a web form to the operator. The operator then manually processes payment using their EFTPOS as if it were a phone booking. This is simple to setup, but is the least secure way to handle an online transaction.
  • A supposedly ‘secure’ email form passes the credit card information to a supposedly ‘secure’ server, generally hosted by a channel manager. The operator then needs to manually retrieve the card details from the channel manager. Again, the operator then processes the payment as if it were a phone transaction.

The problem is that the consumer believes they’re making a secure online payment. They are unaware that their credit card details will be stored and can be accessed by anyone.
Card details stored on a server can be accessed by hackers to capture numerous credit cards details at once by breaking into one computer.
In both methods, the payment doesn’t occur when the buyer enters the credit card detail, but later when the operator handles it. The buyer must wait a period of time before acceptance and confirmation of the payment.

I don’t want to pay for bookings made through my own website. 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

The only charge for bookings made through your website is a success fee for the use of the TXA technology.

Neither TXA nor Rezobx charge you upfront for the system but rather we ‘share the risk’. If no bookings are made either through your own site or through other 3rd party channels, there will be no fees.

What happens to the commission if there is a cancellation? 2017-10-10T07:30:53+00:00

There is no refund of commissions through the system. If a consumer cancels their booking, it is up to you to decide on refund rate through your Booking Terms and Conditions.

Most businesses charge a 15-20% cancellation fee or allow/help the consumer to move their booking to a mutually convenient date.

Distributors range of commissions varies. Because TXA is a low-cost model, many distributors connected to Rezobx/TXA offer a much lower cost, many in the range 0% – 5%.

Distributors charge a fee for displaying and ‘selling’ inventory through their channels. This is an increasingly common practice, as they spend marketing funds on attracting customers.
You benefit from bookings directly through Distributors and through the high number of customers who find your website through distributors’ sites

The distributor commission is different to and separate from the fees for use of a booking system: some systems may charge a flat monthly fee, some charge an upfront fee and others are success-based or a combination of these. Some prices include GST, while others don’t. The pricing of these systems is set by the each system vendor in their own right.

Commissions are charged only if and when you receive an online booking through a third party distribution channel. The only fee payable for all online bookings is the booking fee.

Distribution channels set the commission fee and you then decide whether or not you want to opt into it and at what price. You maintain the power to determine exactly how much commission you pay and to dictate the price point for your product.

Please note that Rezobx users typically achieve about 40-50% of bookings through the platform on their own website, meaning they are only paying the minimum fee on majority of bookings.

The Rezobx booking fee only applies when a booking is made, so there is no risk and you get:

1. Free software, installation, training and implementation
2. Upgrades and maintenance
3. Database storage and server hosting
4. E-commerce enablement of your website (valued at approx $2000)
5. Access to multiple online distribution channels
6. Customer service and business support services

In our experience, most suppliers have seen more business incoming by allowing customers to pay upfront and get immediate confirmation.

This process is a huge advance on the way things were done when you had to wait many weeks after guests’ stay to get paid.

You will be sent a reconciliation statement 10 days prior to any money being direct debited, so the direct debiting of your account will not occur until you are satisfied with the details.

The TXA fully-automated billing process relies on Direct Debit Authority to handle settlement of any distributor commission and booking fees.

Here’s how it works;
1. The full amount of the reservation will be deposited directly into your bank account at the time of the booking.
2. On or around the 5th of each month, we will send you a tax invoice identifying any charges for the preceding month.
3. On or around the 16th of each month, your account will be debited for the amount shown on the tax invoice. Please note: the full amount of the booking has already been deposited into your account from the time of the booking.

A transaction fee is a fee charged by payment gateways. This is not charged by Rezobx.

A transaction fee is a small fee charged by our gateway provider to protect you against card fraud and to securely, automatically, and directly process the customer’s payment into the operator’s bank account. Customers’ credit card details are not captured, stored, held, or passed on.

This replaces any costs and time associated with email, fax, and internet transfers for each booking, which cuts down the cost for a single transaction.

A payment gateway is the technology that processes and securely submits payment to your nominated bank account. Payment gateways are approved and authorised for operation based on strict security criteria.

We’ve have created a mobile friendly micro-website (called Mobile Site Button) for customers using mobile phones. Our Smart Button recognises what device the customer is using and automatically presents the best (mobile or desktop) booking pages to them. Mobile booking pages are specifically tailored for bookings to be made on mobile devices.

Can I use Apple Mac for Rezobx? 2017-10-10T07:30:34+00:00

Yes. Though Rezobx is a Windows-based product (best on a PC), you can either use Rezobx with web access on a Mac and/or you can load Rezobx onto your Mac using a couple of programs that optimise Windows programs for Mac, such as “VM Ware” or “Parallels”.

Rezobx can be accessed via the web for most functions. Currently, our Help desk and tech team don’t provide support for Rezobx loaded onto Macs.

Rezobx provides you all of your clients contact details via instant confirmation email. They are your client and you can contact them at any point to make special arrangements and personalise their stay.

Rezobx is the best of both worlds: it allows you to contact your customers who contact you as they do now, and also gives you the greatest opportunity to convert those customers who want to book in the online environment.

Rezobx allows you to take bookings under your own booking terms and conditions. When a customer makes a booking they must ‘tick’ that they have read and understood your conditions. This gives you a legally enforceable ‘screening’ process in the online environment. It still allows you to talk to your customers based on your requirements/rules in your booking Terms and Conditions of Use. If customers haven’t been honest or break your outlined rules, you can cancel their booking on your terms.

All customer information in Rezobx is automatically backed up to secure servers with an ongoing remote backup. If your computer is lost, stolen, damaged or doesn’t work, you can simply plug in another computer and all your critical business information will be automatically downloaded to your new computer, causing nothing to be lost.

If you are out of mobile phone range you will not receive phone bookings or SMS notifications. In this case, any online sales will automatically be updated on your connected system.

Rezobx allows you to receive bookings even when you are unreachable to potential customers. You may also have the SMS notifications redirected to a colleague or family member’s phone while you are away or at any other time.

Rezobx software is loaded onto your computer and all data is mirrored in the ‘cloud’. This means you can still access all your information, check customers in/out, etc. even if the internet goes down. There is also web access for accommodation.
The system offers an SMS function to notify you of a new booking. Rezobx can also be loaded onto multiple computers at no extra charge, so you can still access bookings and information remotely from a laptop or other device through the web wherever you can get online.

You can keep your current online booking enquiry form, however it is important to note that you should give consumers the opportunity to book immediately.

Enquiry forms often involve a 24-48 hour delay for response, often resulting in customers pursuing other, more instant options.

Additionally, there is very low booking conversion from enquiry or ‘on request’ forms. If a potential customer is on your site, you want to do everything possible to capture their business and allow them to secure their reservation as quickly and easily as possible.

Online consumers want the option to book instantly. If you don’t offer this convenience, you are losing business.

If your existing reservation system is connected to Tourism Exchange Australia (TXA), you can link Rezobx to give you maximum exposure to online distributors. If your current reservation system is not integrated with TXA you may need to make a decision as to whether you want to stay with it or not.
